Chronic pelvic pain (CPP) is non-cyclical pain of more than six months’ duration that is localised to the pelvis, the lumbosacral area, the buttocks or the anterior abdominal wall at or below the umbilicus, and is of sufficient severity to cause functional disability or lead to medical care. Pain is generally defined as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage.
